Simulators, Food & Drinks Now Available Year-Round at “Newly Remodeled” Old Works Golf Course

What was supposed to be a casual, quick outing for breakfast at the Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda recently turned into a breathtaking mini tour of their newly remodeled patio, bar, lounge, and Trackman indoor simulators! From my conversation with Karen Wooldridge Heim of the Old Works pro shop over the summer, I knew that plans to remodel portions of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course were in the mix. In fact, this past weekend, they officially opened their doors for breakfast in their refurbished lounge. Pancakes, breakfast burritos, eggs, bacon, sausage, and more are now available on the menu every Saturday and Sunday year-round from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Also, appetizers and drinks are prepared and served by a super staff and will be available throughout the year during "simulator" hours, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekly. 

Plus, even more great news about the Old Works Golf Course is that they WILL BE OPEN FOR OUTDOOR TEE TIMES THROUGH THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21ST, due to favorable weather! So cut to the chase and see if there's still time to reserve a slot by calling (406) 563-5989. Now onto the topic of the Trackman indoor simulators! Talk about top-notch, state-of-the-art, and ready-for-use at the Old Works. According to Andrew Elaimy, the head golf pro at the Old Works, a fall and winter league has been established, allowing 2-person teams to try different indoor simulator courses every week for ten weeks. The one-hour simulator frames offer over 200 amazing courses, including Muirfield Village, Moonlight Basin, PGA National, and St. Andrew's. Elaimy added that turnout and feedback regarding the golf simulators have been very positive and are catching on fast. 

Enthusiasm for the newly devised simulators and the remodeled bar, patio, and lounge speaks volumes about the pride both the staff and community have for the Old Works Golf Course. Originally an ARCO Superfund site, I recall how excited people were to learn that Anaconda-Deer Lodge County was the future home of a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in the early 90s. One essential element that stood out during the construction of the course, was how bunkers were created using black slag from the historic Anaconda smelter.
