There's one thing most of us had growing up; the feeling of excitement when the circus came to town! Whether from a performance you remember 30 years ago or just yesterday, there's something about the circus that continues to amaze people of all ages. The circus is a break from the ordinary; the colorful displays, the animated clowns, the engaging aerial and trapeze acts, and the daring lion and charming elephant exchanges are exhilarating experiences. Coming up on April 12th, you'll have a chance to be amazed all over again as the Jordan World Circus makes its way to the Butte Civic Center for two magnificent shows; one at 4 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m.! From the History of Circus Chronicles online, Philadelphia is considered the first place a modern circus was held in the United States on April 3, 1793, under the direction of John Ricketts. By 1825, Joshuah Purdy became the mastermind behind the use of a large tent for a circus. Eventually, the concept took off, and circuses across the globe started to replace circus buildings and open fields with tents (although many successfully continued to utilize indoor settings such as Jordan's). One of the largest circus acts was none other than Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show On Earth, which toured from 1897 to 1902. It's incredible how people have been going to circuses in the U.S. for close to three hundred years! (more talk about the circus and tickets below...)

With a modern spin on a vintage art form, the Jordan World Circus, set to visit Butte this month, is considered one of the top traveling circuses in North America by today's standards. Owners Jody and Melanie Jordan hail from an extended background of circus performers and aerialists. To learn more about the Jordan Circus and to purchase your tickets to their shows set for April 12th at the Butte Civic Center, visit their website right HERE -> JORDAN CIRCUS. As they say...THE SHOW MUST GO ON, so see you there!
