Free Child Safety Seat Clinic Wednesday at BSB Fire Department

Did you know that over half of the child safety seats that are in vehicles today are either being used incorrectly or not being used at all?   It's a disheartening number, particularly when statistics show that road injuries are the leading cause of preventable injuries and deaths to children in the United States.  Child safety seats, when used correctly can prevent these injuries and deaths by as much as 71%.  But how do you know that you're using yours correctly?  Child safety seats are hardly one-size-fits-all and sometimes installation can be a bit trickier than it sounds.  Now no parent is going to intentionally put their child in a faulty safety seat, but proper installation along with the proper fitting is crucial when it comes to your child's safety.

The Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department is first on the scene of many car accidents involving injury and have unfortunately seen firsthand the results of improperly used or fitted child safety seats.  But luckily, they are also experts at properly installing and fitting them and they are having a clinic on Wednesday, July 19, where they will make sure your child is safe in your vehicle.  They will also make sure that the safety seat that you are using is the correct one for your child's height and weight.  The clinic is completely free of charge and will be taking place at the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Station No. 1 at 120 South Idaho Street from 11am to 2pm and it will be on a first-come first-served basis.  Please use the Galena Street entrance for service.
