Blood Drive in Butte at the Big Sky on Waterford December 15
Most of us will agree that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year. Between planning for family visits, preparing guest rooms and holiday meals and, of course, finding the perfect present for everyone on your list, there just seems to be no time to sit down and have a cup of coffee, much less than going out and donating blood. Unfortunately, the holidays are also one of the busiest times of the year for hospitals needing blood and a short supply is never a good thing. Whether it is for a surgery patient, the victim of an accident, a leukemia patient or any sitiuation, the fact is that every 2 seconds, somebody in the United States will need blood.
Consider donating blood. Don't let a fear of needles put you off. The folks at Vitalant tell us that most donors describe the pain as "a small pinch". Certainly nothing to be afraid of. But it is, however, something that could certainly save a life. In fact a single blood donation can potentially save up to three lives. Here in the Mining City, there will be a blood drive where you can help and it is coming up on Friday, December 15. The blood drive will be taking place in the Hoyle Room at Big Sky on Waterford Senior Living and Memory Care from 1 to 4pm. Consider taking part. You can sign up online at vitalant.org and if you would like further information, check out their Facebook Event page.
