It is no secret that breast cancer is a killer.  According to statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among women in the United States. It is the 2nd leading cause of death from cancer among women. Only lung cancer kills more women each year.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and now is the time to think about detection and screening.  And you should be thinking about a mammogram.  Mammograms are perhaps the most essential of tools for the early detection of breast cancer, especially in its early stages when the tumor is too small to be felt by a physical examination. Detecting breast cancer in its early stages greatly increases the chances of successful treatment and long-term survival.

There are simply no excuses for not getting a mammogram, particularly with "mobile mammogram" event happening this Wednesday with St. James Healthcare at the Butte Plaza Mall.  From the Facebook events page, "on the Mobile Mammography Coach, a mammogram takes just 20 minutes, is covered by most insurance plans, and is completed by a team focused on helping you feel at ease. We use the same 3D Mammography imaging equipment used in our on-campus site, and your confidential results are mailed directly to you and your healthcare provider."

If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call 406-723-2950, ext. 1.
Walk-ins are welcome.  Participants must be able to climb five steps and stand unassisted.  The event will offer screening mammograms only.  If you have no insurance, please call (406) 497-5085.
