Montana Tech jumps back into conference play hosting Carroll

Now that we have broken into 2023, the Frontier schools are back into conference play full-time. Before we dive into the weeds, let’s start with the school’s overall, and conference records.

Montana Tech will host Carroll College

The Lady Saints have won the last 17 meetings between the two. Montana Tech’s last win over Carroll was a 78-64 Frontier tournament contest on February 28, 2017. As of the last coaches poll, Carroll is ranked #11 in the country. The ladies have 4 losses on the year, and all of those are to nationally ranked opponents (#1 Thomas More, #7 Indiana Wesleyan, #23 Southern Oregon, and #10 Lewis Clark State)

Carroll is led by Jamie Pickens with 15 points and 6 rebounds a game. Junior Kyndall Keller is averaging 11 a game, and Senior Sierra Swannack comes in at 9 points per game. Senior guard Kamden Hilborn might not be at the top of the scorer’s list, but she is a player that can take a game over (and has). She averages 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists a game.

Montana Tech is led by Tavia Rooney. On the year, Tavia is averaging 13 points, and 8 rebounds a game. So far this season she has racked up 94 rebounds bringing her career total to 713, putting her at #3 on the Montana Tech all-time list, behind Kaylee Zard (790) and DeAnn Johnson (The great DJ with 918).

Freshman Aubrie Rademacher has had a fantastic start to the season. Averaging 10 points a game, she brings great energy to the floor. Senior Dani Urick comes into the ballgame averaging 9 points a game. Carroll will try to keep a tight leash on Urick, but for Tech to win, they will need Dani to get some looks and knock down some points.

The women will be on Kelvin Sampson court, in the Great Western HPER starting at 5pm on Thursday. The web stream can be viewed HERE if you can’t make it up the hill.

The other games on Thursday have Rocky at Northern, and Providence at UM Western.
