The Butte America Foundation has announced that Jim Daily of Butte has been selected as Grand Marshal for the 2026 St. Patrick's Day Parade.

According to a release from the Butte America Foundation, Mr. Daily is a Butte native and proud patriarch of a fine Butte Irish family having raised six children who, along with his wife Mitzi, have fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Jim has been an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians for over forty years and is proud of his Irish heritage.  Always generous and community-minded as the owner of Daily Construction, Jim and Mitzi today work with Action, Inc. twice monthly preparing healthy lunches for the needy.  One nominator noted that "Jim always leads with kindness, strength and integrity," while another said that "Jim is the happiest guy I know."

Jim's response to the Butte America Foundation upon notification that he had been selected was, "I'm honored to be selected the Grand Marshal and am proud to be from this great community of Butte, America."  Jim now joins Mitzi as an honoree as she was the Grand Marshal a few years back.

12pm is the start time for this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade which will start at Granite and Wyoming, head west to Montana, south to Park and finally east back to Main Street.  The Butte America Foundation not only puts on this parade but our community's annual Independence Day Parade as well.  If you would like to help out with this year's festivities, please send an email to bamf@butteamericafoundation.org.

Special thank you to Alysia Guzman for all of her work on this year's parade as well as her work on many, many other events as well.

While you might think “watching while distracted” is a modern habit, even back in the day the TV was just… there, humming along while you did other things. These were the shows that weren’t exactly “must-see TV,” more like “might-see TV” — part of the culture, but you had to wonder: who was actually watching?
