Punk legend Henry Rollins will be making a pair of stops in Montana for his upcoming Good to See You tour this fall. He will be performing at the ELM in Bozeman Saturday, October 28th, and the Wilma in Missoula, on Sunday, October 29th.

Henry Rollins has done it all, singer, writer, spoken word performer, artist, actor, presenter, and ice cream slinger.

At the age of 20, Henry’s life changed drastically. He went from giving out samples at Haagen-Dasz to taking over as the new lead singer of Black Flag. Henry fronted the legendary band from 1981 until they disbanded in August of 1986.

Rollins released a pair of solo (music) albums in 1987 and then formed the Rollins Band right after. The Rollins Band gave Henry his first albums on the charts, first was 1992’s End Of Silence, followed by Weight in 1994, which landed him his only Billboard Top 40 album.

During his solo years, while on tour, he started scheduling speaking engagements around his band gigs. It didn’t take long for these events to become incredibly popular. They are part comedy, history, and social commentary.

His first recording of a speaking engagement was ‘A Short Walk on a Long Pier’, recorded when he was still a member of Black Flag. Since that first spoken word album, he has released 17 more over the past five decades. Henry is a believer in traveling everywhere, learning about cultures and people, and therefore learning more about yourself. I can’t encourage someone enough to listen to his spoken word albums. For my money, the best is Talk is Cheap Vol 3, especially Disc 2, track 1- “The Ramones”.  Or you can go with my oldest friend in the world’s ‘go-to’, which is Eric the Pilot. You truly can’t go wrong.

Beyond recording, Henry has a written a wide variety of books, he also has an incredible array of television credits, from Saturday Night Live, to Sons of Anarchy, Henry has done it all. His bibliography and filmography are multiple pages each, the guy just never sits still.

This is at the absolute top of my “can’t miss” shows this summer. Hope to see you in Bozeman and/or Missoula.
