College Sports abound this weekend in Southwest Montana
While only a pair of games are on the college sports schedule here in Butte, there is a lot of action happening only a couple hours away from town in either direction, especially if you like playoff football.
First things first. Let's see what's going on here in Butte. The Montana Tech Orediggers will be hosting pair of basketball games Friday afternoon as Concordia University of Edmonton comes to the Mining City. This will be the first chance for Butte fans to see second-year head coach Jeff Graham's squad at home and they are bringing a 3-2 record into their 3pm contest. On the men's side, the #8 Orediggers will tipoff at 5pm and are expecting the return of preseason Frontier Conference MVP Caleb Bellach.
Sticking with college hoops, the University of Montana men's team is at home on Saturday with an early 1pm tipoff time scheduled at Dahlberg Arena as they host San Jose State. Tickets are available here. Later that evening, the Grizzly football team hosts Delaware in the quarterfinals of the NCAA FCS playoffs and seats for that game are available as well.
If you want to head east on the interstate instead, you will still find playoff football as Butte's Tommy Mellott and the Montana State University Bobcats are also in an NCAA FCS playoff game against North Dakota State. Tickets for this contest are available as of publishing time. If you can't make the game, listen to it live on KXTL.
If you're hitting the road, please drive safely. Here are a few things to have in your car this weekend or any time when driving this winter in Montana.
