One of the most intricate and fascinating museums available to the public is right in our backyard.  In terms of mining history, accessibility, location and affordability, Butte's World Museum of Mining is in a league of its own and if you want to talk about actually going into the ground and the actual workings of a real mine, it stands alone because the museum sits on the actual ground of the Orphan Girl Mine.

The World Museum of Mining is the only place in North America offering tours that take you inside the actual workings, or inside the mine itself.  It doesn't get any more real than that.  But if you want to feel as if you actually have gone back in time, take a stroll through the cobblestone and dirt streets of Hell Roarin' Gulch to feel as if you are smack dab in the middle of an old west mining camp.

This cool little ghost town just got a little bit cooler with the announcement of a new exhibit courtesy of Mary Ann Pearce and the folks at the Science Mine.

In honor of her parents, Olive and Bill Pearce, Mary Ann has committed funds to complete a "Patent Office" that will include an actual Tesla Coil.  The exhibit, opening in the near future, will not only be a look back at our incredible history but as inspiration as well for a bright and prosperous future.
