Mother’s Day Weekend provides opportunities to give back
As many of us prepare for a Mother's Day filled with breakfast buffets, afternoon brunches and even a special dinner, let's not forget about the less fortunate here in Butte. There are many for whom a lovely brunch is not a possibility. Many families are food insecure and may have nothing to eat at all. Over the next couple of days there are a pair of food drives that need your help to ensure that nobody goes hungry in our community.
FRIDAY - W.E.T. FOOD/BLOOD DRIVE
Friday from 10:30 until 5pm in the Butte Brewing Co. event room is the Water and Environmental community blood and food drive in conjunction with Vitalant. To schedule a blood donation appointment, click here. All donors will get a special "swag bag" filled with items and coupons from local businesses. Food donors will be given 10 door prize tickets for every 10 nonperishables donated. Food donations will be given to the Butte Pantry and door prizes are available with your food donation. Please bring your nonperishables to Butte Brewing Co. at 465 E. Galena. For further information on scheduling a blood donation appointment, contact Shawn Muffich at smuffich@vitalant.org or call (406) 498-1206.

SATURDAY - LETTER CARRIERS FOOD DRIVE
Saturday, Butte will take part in one of the year's biggest food drives, the annual Letter Carriers' Food Drive, which is a nationwide undertaking and also one of the easiest ones in which to take part. Simply leave your nonperishable food items in a bag near your mailbox before pickup on Saturday and your local letter carrier will take it from there. All donations will be given to the Butte Emergency Food Bank.
