Butte High’s Jace Stenson will continue his football career in Butte Montana.

Jace made the announcement earlier today via twitter, that he will sign with Montana Tech to continue his football story.

Stenson won the starting QB job the beginning of his Junior season, as he and Kenley Leary were battling for the spot. From his first series, Stenson's poise on the field was immediately noticeable. He plays with a calmness in the pocket, something you normally see in a seasoned quarterback, a quality he had from word go. In that Junior campaign, Stenson threw for 1965 yards, averaging nearly 200 yards a game. He accounted for 18 touchdowns through the air, compared to only 6 interceptions.

He is also a monster in the running game, some by design, some out of necessity. Going back to his Junior year he ran for 345 yards on 76 carries, averaging 35 yards a game on the ground, and scored 5 touchdowns. He was the Bulldog’s 2nd leading rusher that year, and had the most rushing touchdowns on the team.

In his Senior campaign, he was, even more, the focal point for the Bulldog’s offense. Not only did he throw for over 2500 yards, but he was also the Bulldogs leading rusher with over 700 yards on the ground. Between both passing and rushing TD’s he accounted for 32 total. He wrapped up his Senior season throwing for 2649 yards (#3 statewide), averaging 241 yards a game, and ending the season with 25 passing touchdowns. He accrued 7 rushing touchdowns and 714 yards.

Butte High has had an unbelievably talented group of quarterbacks walk the halls the past 2 decades, and Jace has made a name for himself and made an incredible impact on the Butte High program in his two years at the helm. I feel his style of play, and his knowledge of the game really opens doors for him at the next level.

I loved watching him play for Coach Grey and the Bulldogs and am excited for his future as a Digger.
