Generous $100K Grant Secured For Butte's Montana Folk Festival
The Markovich Family Foundation in conjunction with Summit Beverage has awarded a total of $100,000 over five years to support the Montana Folk Festival in 2024 and in the years to follow. This year, $20,000 will be granted to the Montana Folk Festival by the Foundation. This support will be doubled by the ongoing challenge grant of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation.

Chinese New Year celebrations in Butte have been a fun and historical event going way back into Butte's colorful history and festivities this year will get underway Uptown on February 10. This year will be the celebration of the "Year of the Dragon". Chinese culture tells us that the dragon symbolizes honor, luck, nobility, power and success. Those born during the Year of the Dragon are said to be courageous, tenacious and intelligent.

For the fifth year, Mainstreet Uptown Butte invites Butte citizens to come see the Copper Star in the County Courthouse and make a wish for the holidays. Between now and noon on December 21st, Butte citizens young and old are encouraged to make a wish for the community of Butte, or for neighbors, friends or families.

The nominations have been received and reviewed and a distinguished Uptown business has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshal to be honored to help turn on the lights during the tree lighting ceremony at the Courthouse Rotunda and lead the Children's Light Parade.
