This Tuesday, April 1st, the Butte Local Development Corporation is inviting you to help them create the path to Butte's economic success. Come share a drink and enjoy a bite to eat at Butte Brewing Company to help them shape Butte Local Development’s 5-Year Strategic Plan. An update will be given on current feedback that has been received by the BLDC, and attendees will be given the opportunity to participate in their survey. Attendees will also be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket with goodies from local Butte businesses.

The Montana Tech hockey club will be very active in our community next week as they host Pint Night Thursday at Butte Brewing Company and Veterans Appreciation Night Friday at the Butte Community Ice Center.

At least in my household, pizza is as important part of the Cat/Griz game as chips, beer and refreshments. With the undefeated Bobcats represented by hometown hero Tommy Mellott and hosting the game in Bozman, the stakes are high, and tickets are hard to come by. If you're like many of us who will be watching the game from home here in Butte, here are a few recommendations for some of our town's best pizza for you and your guests to enjoy.

When you're planning a mountain bike race and are expecting 500 racers from 29 states and 4 countries, well, you know you're on to something big. That's exactly what Stephanie Sorini and organizers of the Butte 100 Mountain Bike Races are facing and they are once again looking to residents of Southwest Montana to make it a success.

Pitting local firefighters against local police officers for a charitable cause, while noble, is really nothing new. Especially here in the Mining City where this type of thing has been happening for decades, albeit in different forms and with varying results. Remember the old "Pig Bowl" from the early 2000s? Someone had the great idea of putting the police against the firefighters, with a handful of CCCS staffers thrown in for good measure, in a full-contact tackle football game. The results were, well, exactly what you'd expect from a group of some of the most competitive people on the planet. It got physical is an understatement. Hell, less violent games were probably being played simultaneously in the yard at MSP in Deer Lodge by people they arrested. Well, another police vs. firefighters event is coming up and this time they are literally out for blood.

The An Ri Ra Montana Irish Festival is coming up on a milestone this summer. The weekend of August 9th through the 11th will be the festival's 20th year in the Mining City and organizers are expecting the best festival to date. In February, organizers announced the headlining performers for this years festival at the Original Mineyard and attendees are in for a treat as The Elders, Altan, The Spain Brothers and the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance will be this year's headliners.

The Pipe and Drum Band of the Edmonton Police Service is coming back to Butte for St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Since the 1980s their family-friendly performances have become synonymous with St. Patrick's Day in Butte and their whirlwind three-day Mining City tour schedule is up for this weekend's events.

Let me be the first to say that I am not one to doubt the math that the people at Water and Environmental Technologies are showing. After all, they are some of the smartest people in town doing work that I can barely spell correctly, less understand. So, when they say that based on 2023 data, approximately 75% of the people who donate blood at this Friday's Blood and Food Drive will get a door prize, I am inclined to believe them. And these door prizes are pretty cool, too.

Join the Mile High Nordic Ski Education for the 2023 Ski Ball, their annual fundraiser and membership drive. The event will be taking place at Butte Brewing Company at 465 E. Galena this Friday, November 17 from 6 to 9pm.
