Out of all the television shows that would be perfect for a Montnana setting, it's this award-winning anthology series.

Montanans love it when our state is featured in a movie or television show. Big Sky Country usually sees small independent film or television productions, but some significant films and television have been filmed in Montana.

Movies like A River Runs Through It and Legends of the Fall, both starring Brad Pitt, showed Montana's natural beauty. The television show Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner, created a massive boom in the tourist industry.

These movies and television shows have been incredible on what life in Montana is like, minus wild storylines in Yellowstone, and have helped bring in business that wasn't there before.

We were watching another popular show recently and realized that Montana could be a potential setting for an upcoming season.

The show we are talking about is HBO's True Detective.

True Detective is in its fourth season, titled Night Country, stars Jodie Foster, and is set in northern Alaska. Other seasons of True Detective have starred movie stars like Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, and Mahershala Ali.

Each season deals with crimes that can't be explained, but every season has been set in small rural towns all over America. The best part is every season has new characters in different settings and timelines.

That made us realize if a potential fifth season were to happen, Montana would be a perfect spot. The show leans into supernatural elements occasionally, and having a rural setting like Montana's landscape could add mystery and thrills.

The show's setting in a heavily wooded area like Libby, Lincoln, or other small towns could bring an element to the show that could be haunting and make for an enticing script.

Do you think that could work, or do we have high hopes?
