If you have been waiting for good news on this project, this will make you happy.

Folks in Southern Montana might not have to wait long for this project to become a reality.

We have been talking about the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority for years. This idea started when several locals and cities wanted the Southern Hiawatha route to Montana brought back.

If you don't know, Montana has a passenger train route. The only issue is it's only hitting towns and cities in the north like Whitefish, Havre, and more.

The Southern route would go through cities like Bozeman, Butte, Billings, and more. This train route could connect them to Portland, Seattle, Chicago, and other major hubs.

This idea has massive supporters, but we haven't heard if and when this plan would go into effect.

That is until now.

Last week, the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, is behind the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority and wants to help it get started immediately.

The Daily Montanan reports we could see passenger trains return to Southern Montana within the next two to three years.

The economic benefits of this train route coming back to Montana is massive. This route would connect several of Montana's cities to other train routes.

Montana could see over $270 million worth of benefits from this route returning.

This train route would be a fantastic way to see Montana. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic views.

The passenger train could help locals travel during the winter for those who don't want to drive or fly. It's a win-win.

We can't wait to hear more news soon.
