Montana's Most Popular Potato Chip

This pick might be up for debate with many Montanans.

Instacart compiled data from 2024 to find the Top Five Most Popular Potato Chips in Montana, and the #1 answer is a solid choice.

What's the most popular potato chip in Montana? Ruffles.

Ruffles have been a potato chip powerhouse for decades. Folks love Ruffles for their ridges. Those ridges help secure any dips you could enjoy with your chips.

Plus, they have excellent flavors of Ruffles.

Ruffles were by far the #1 chip in America. Seventeen states all had Ruffles as their #1 chip.

What were the other contenders in Montana?

Kettle Brand and Tim's Cascade Chips were #2 and #3 for Montana. Both of these companies offer kettle-cooked style chips that many locals love.

Kettle Brand has become a national brand over the past few years, and Tim's Cascade chips are a Pacific Northwest company.

#4 is Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips, which is a West Coast brand, and #5 is Boulder Canyon, which we've never heard of or seen in Montana.

Surprisingly, Pringles or Lay's made it on the list. Both are widely available across Montana in grocery stores, gas stations, and other spots that offer snacks.

15 Discontinued Snack Chips In 2025

Frito-Lay makes some of the most popular snacks in America, and it seems that every year, they introduce new twists on their top brands that feature unique flavors.

It can be fun to venture out of your comfort zone and try new things and those new things can sometimes become new favorites. However, there is no guarantee that the new snacks will stick around for very long, which can be disappointing.

Sporked recently uncovered 15 snacks that Frito-Lay plans on discontinuing in 2025, and they include some of my favorites. If some of your favorites are on this list, you better stock up if you still see them on store shelves and enjoy them while you can.

Perhaps if fans of snacks being discontinued protest, Frito-Lay will change its mind.
