Bozeman and Missoula: Which One Better Suits You?
Bozeman vs. Missoula: The Ultimate Montana Showdown
I was recently asked which city I prefer, Bozeman or Missoula.
I have lived and worked in both, and will give you a totally honest opinion. Each city has their plus and minuses as most cities do, and as far as which one is "better", well I think that's totally up to the individual.
Discover the Charm of Bozeman
Let's start with Bozeman.
Bozeman is a nice place to call home, unless you're actually looking to buy a home, then it's a bit outrageous. Yes, the price of housing has been well documented, and it's certainly a drawback.
Outdoor Adventures and Academic Excellence in Bozeman
However, there is much to love about Bozeman.
There is a nice mix of old school and new businesses, and while some would say that downtown is more for tourists than locals, it's still a great place to grab a meal, have a drink, and spend a few hours enjoying yourself.
READ MORE: Which Montana University tops the list of being the best?
We have great schools in Bozeman, and that includes Montana State University which seems to dominate in the class room and on the field. National Football Champions anyone? Oh, and then there are the outdoors, Bozeman and the surrounding area offers TONS of outdoor activity.
Exploring Missoula: A Larger City with Unique Offerings
Ok, now let's talk about Missoula.
Missoula is bigger than Bozeman, so there is more to do as far as restaurants, bars, and social scenes. The last time I was there, it seemed dirtier than I remember, but the cost of living is cheaper, which is a plus.
The Rivalry: University of Montana vs. Montana State
Oh, and then there is the University of Montana.
While it may be true that the last few years have been a struggle when it comes to competing with Montana State on the field and every other sport, it's important to remember there was a time that Montana was dominant.
Final Thoughts: Personal Preference in Montana's Cities
As you can see, both have their selling points. I've lived in both, and I prefer Bozeman, but I wouldn't be made if I had to call Missoula home, I just wanted cheer for the Griz.
