Fans of swing music, jazz classics and vintage dance tunes will have a chance to celebrate Mother’s Day with a lively night of music as the Butte Big Band hosts its annual Mother’s Day Dance on Sunday, May 10, at the Butte Elks Club on Galena Street in Uptown Butte.

The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature a full evening of timeless Big Band favorites performed by the local 17-piece jazz ensemble. Organizers say audiences can expect a wide variety of music, including classic swing arrangements, smooth jazz ballads and upbeat Latin-inspired numbers designed to keep the dance floor busy throughout the night.

The concert will highlight songs made famous by legendary bandleaders and musicians such as Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, helping recreate the sound and atmosphere of the golden age of American jazz and swing music.

Organizers say the event is intended to be both a celebration of Mother’s Day and a chance for the community to gather for an evening of live entertainment. Guests are encouraged to dance, relax and enjoy the nostalgic sounds of classic Big Band music in one of Butte’s longtime social venues.

Advance tickets for the dance are available now for $15 and can be purchased at several area businesses, including Second Edition Books at 114 South Montana Street, Headframe Spirits, Butte Elks Lodge No. 240 and Montana Fur Center & Brewery Antiques in both Butte and Anaconda. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $20 per person.

Charcuterie boards will be available for purchase during the event, and guests interested in reserving tables can call 406-490-7433 for additional information.
