The long Thanksgiving holiday for most of us was an abundant time of food, family and even holiday shopping as the cold weather descended upon the Mining City and the holiday decorations went up.  But for many here in Butte and all across Southwest Montana, the cold weather is a burden and the idea of a hot, bountiful Thanksgiving dinner, nothing more than something on a wish list.  That is, until a couple of local friends and fellow restauranteurs combined forces to make sure everyone who wanted a seat at the Thanksgiving table had one.

Tim Montana and Ken Haines are becoming well known not only in Southwest Montana but all across the country for their respective restaurants, The Wise River Club, which Tim has been operating for the past several years and The Hitchin' Post in Melrose run by Ken and his wife, Bonnie.  Both are gaining notoriety for their big, delicious meals made from locally-sourced ingredients and both are becoming almost equally as well known for their generosity.  Their generosity was on display Thursday at the Butte Rescue Mission.

Ken, who also operates Butte Produce and Supply, got together 300 pounds of turkey which he turned over to Tim and his row of Traeger Grills at the Wise River Club.  Together they produced an incredible buffet of Thanksgiving staples that were graciously enjoyed by those being helped by the Butte Rescue Mission and anyone else who was in need of a Thanksgiving Dinner.  The did two servings, one at noon and one at 6pm that combined fed and nourished hundreds of hungry people.
