The Anaconda Lady Copperheads' resilience was well recognized over the weekend during the Western B Divisional Basketball tournament in Anaconda, and it doesn't stop there! Tonight, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Smelter City's Memorial Gym, the Lady Heads will take on the Loyola Heartbreakers in a challenge match to decide who will get the second seed and a trip to the State Class B Tournament in Great Falls, March 9th, 10th & 11th. Tonight's game is in part premised on the fact that the Lady Heads and the Lady Breakers had yet to play each other during this past weekend's tournament.(continued...)

Saturday afternoon (February 25th), the Lady Copperheads beat the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks 52 to 39 to secure a consolation game victory. For the Copperheads, Meela Mitchell scored 17 points, Larkin Galle 14, Maniyah Lunceford had 13 points, Hayden Lunceford 5, and Cali Pesanti had 3 points. For the Blue Hawks, Ellie Baxter prevailed with 16 points, Chesney Low with 8, Gabi Hannum had 6 points, Avery Burgess and Alivia McCormick each with 3, while Natalie Roberts and L. Gerhard each had 2. (More on Lady Heads below)

A win for the Anaconda Lady Copperheads tonight would guarantee them a shot at State with a proposed first match-up against the second-seed winner of the Southern B Divisional Tournament on the evening of Thursday, March 9th! However, because Southern B has not yet conducted their divisional tournament, "that" contender has not been determined. The Southern B boys and girls divisional tourney takes place at Metra Park in Billings, March 1st through March 4th.

A shout-out to all players and fans! Here's to a great basketball season for both the Anaconda Copperheads (boys) and the Lady Copperheads.
