You have heard about the annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest that is held every 4th of July at Coney Island in New York, haven't you?  It's truly one of the sporting events that I look forward to watching every year, if you can call it a sporting event.  It's more like something you'd do while watching a sporting event, but I digress.  If you're unfamiliar, it's pretty much as it sounds.  Since 2008, contestants have 10 minutes to devour as many hot dogs as they can stuff down their gullet and the amounts are truly awe-inspiring.  Last year's champion, Patrick "Deep Dish" Bertoletti managed to down 58 while the women's champ, Miko Sudo was able to put down 51.  Do you think you could touch those numbers?

Smelter City Brewery in Anaconda at 101 Main Street is going to give you the chance to find out on July 4th, right after the parade.  They're thinking around noonish, and bring your appetite.  There is a $25 entry fee with all proceeds going to Pintler Pets of Anaconda, one of the most caring and humane animal rescue and adoption organizations in the state.  There will be both men's and women's divisions and the winners will take home, in addition to the admiration of Southwest Montana, a lifetime Mug Club membership which entitles the bearer to half-off beer for the rest of their days.

There are limited spots so act quickly.  You can register at the Smelter City Brewery taproom and if you would like further details please call (406) 563-0344.
