One of the most rewarding and enjoyable activities a child can take up is learning and playing a musical instrument.  Maybe your kid has found this out already.  The reward is not only learning about music and the instrument itself, but the people that you are bound to meet through your involvement and the many friendships that you will make.  The Young Musicians Club of Butte is an organization that provides this and more with registration coming up on January 15th at East Middle School for prospective and returning young musicians.

The Young Musicians Club is open to students in the 4th through 12th grades and is offering instruction for those who wish to learn to play the clarinet, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums, violin or guitar.  Students will meet once weekly for instruction with returning wind instrumentalists eligible for band participation.

Students will meet at East Middle School on Mondays and Tuesdays between 3:30pm and 5:30pm.  The cost is $60 for around 14 lessons, or about 4 dollars per lesson, and need-based scholarships are available for low-income families or anyone needing assistance.

Registration will be January 15, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the East Middle School band room. (Go through the Stuart Street gate, drive behind the school, and enter the building through Door 12. Watch for signs directing you to the band room).  Students may also register between 4pm and 6pm on January 25th and 26th..

Young Musicians Club instruments will be available to rent at registration, current students will be offered the option of continuing their rental.  If you have any questions on instrument rentals, please contact Tom Patton at (406) 490-1537.  Further details can be obtained by calling Bruce at (406) 479-0038, Jessica at (406) 498-8230 or Sheri at (406) 565-0344.
