At least in my household, pizza is as important part of the Cat/Griz game as chips, beer and refreshments.  With the undefeated Bobcats represented by hometown hero Tommy Mellott and hosting the game in Bozman, the stakes are high, and tickets are hard to come by.  If you're like many of us who will be watching the game from home here in Butte, here are a few recommendations for some of our town's best pizza for you and your guests to enjoy.

It's been known for years that some of the best pizza in town is at the Vu Villa and, if you can believe it, since a change in ownership, the pizza has gotten even better.  The Vu can prepare your pie to your specifications but if you want something tried and true, get the Digger Special.  I believe it's the best out there.  Call (406)723-9885

Silver Bow Pizza has been a household name in Butte since way back in the day of the animatronic band and arcade.  The aesthetics may have changed but Silver Bow is always a great choice for pizza whether you want their more economical New Generation style or their hearty deep dish.  I recommend the Deep Dish Hawaiian.  Yes, with pineapple.

BUTTE BREWING COMPANY, 465 E. GALENA

Butte Brewing Company offers some of the best New York style pizza in the state.  Their incredible crust is made in the old Italian style with no fillers and only sourdough yeast.  Their pies are flash baked in about 3 minutes and are just incredible.  My recommendation?  Definitely the pepperoni.

MACKENZIE RIVER PIZZA. 3450 MONROE

Mackenzie River Pizza has gourmet pizza in some unique and delicious styles like their Chicken Tikka Za with chicken, red peppers, onions and Tikka Masala sauce and can always please a crowd with traitional pies like their Good 'Ol Boy or their Stockman pizzas.  My pick?  Try the Rancher with bacon, beef, pepperoni, red onions and green peppers.  You'll forget the game is even on.
