Engine No. 25 Fundraising Efforts gaining momentum for summer
A grassroots effort to restore and preserve a historic locomotive with extensive ties to Butte's history and development is hitting high gear as we head into summer.
We've talked about Engine No. 25 which has sadly sat in relative anonymity adjacent to the Butte Civic Center's south parking lot since 1958. That is, until Al Hess, whose father was the last engineer to operate the historic steam engine, stepped in with plans to not only for restoration but for prominent display.
Considerable progress is being made but much work remains to be done and funds are still needed. As such, generous Southwest Montana businesses, organizations and individuals are stepping up in support of a summer raffle with some great prizes.
